Our Platform

A vision built of the people, by the people, for the people through Collective Policy Making. We are committed to policies that return power to District 10 and ensure Lansing works for working families.

"The assumption that what currently exists must necessarily exist is the acid that corrodes all visionary thinking."

Electoral & Legislative Reform

Legislative Reform

Collective Policy Making

Collective Policy Making is a hybrid model of governance where the community acts as the authors of their own laws, replacing the broken system of legislation drafted in secret by corporate lobbyists. This process is driven by two main engines:
Community Assemblies: Regular, in-person gatherings where residents deliberate face-to-face, find common ground on local issues, and establish policy priorities.
Online Open Source Platform: A digital space where policies are collaboratively drafted, refined, and transparently voted on by the community.

Learn More

Our push for community assemblies is heavily inspired by the themes of civic decline and revival found in the book Bowling Alone and the documentary Join or Die. We highly recommend them as a foundation for understanding this policy approach.

Electoral Reform

MMD Proportional Representation

Multi-Member Districts with Proportional Representation guarantees the number of seats a party holds in the House accurately matches its share of the statewide vote. This replaces the current "winner-take-all" system that heavily disenfranchises voters and enforces a two-party system.

Local Control & Civil Liberties

We must defend our community against top-down state mandates and surveillance, ensuring that residents maintain control over their own neighborhoods.

Specific Policy Plans
  • Ban Unwanted Surveillance: Oppose anti-voter initiatives like Flock drone contracts and AI data center approvals that are forced onto communities without their consent.
  • Defend Local Zoning: Block top-down state mandates and keep zoning decisions in the hands of our local municipalities to protect the character of our neighborhoods.

Absolute Transparency & Accountability

Politicians should be public servants, not self-serving elites. Our campaign operates on the radical idea that elected officials must be completely transparent and instantly accountable to their constituents.

Specific Policy Plans
  • Recallable Delegates: Championing legislation to make it easier for voters to recall elected delegates who abandon their platform or violate the public trust. We believe in true accountability.
  • Clear & Accessible Legislation: We advocate for single-issue bills written in plain language. Hiding unpopular provisions inside massive, unrelated omnibus packages is anti-democratic. Clear, focused legislation ensures true transparency and allows the community to understand and debate the actual merits of a policy.

Local Economy & Main Streets

Focus on smart zoning, small business support, and vibrant commercial corridors to build a thriving local economy.

Specific Policy Plans
  • Enhance Local Main Streets: Zone for vibrant, walkable, mixed-use development in existing commercial corridors like Kelly Road and The Village to add housing without altering residential layouts.
  • Support Gentle Density: Allow "Missing Middle" housing seamlessly designed to match local architecture, including Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), to support multi-generational living.
  • Incentivize Conservation Subdivisions: Encourage "clustered" zoning for new developments to permanently preserve 50% or more of the land as untouched woodlands or community trails.
  • Provide Grants for Local Ownership: Redirect state economic development funds to provide targeted grants and tax incentives that help residents open and sustain local businesses.
  • End Corporate Subsidies: Roll back massive corporate tax breaks and use the recovered funds for a "Main Street Infrastructure Fund" to provide zero-interest loans to small businesses.
  • Fund "Complete Streets": Champion state funding for local urban design initiatives, including pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, to safely increase foot traffic and economic activity.
  • Invest in Regional Transit: Increase state funding for regional transit networks (SMART and DDOT) to connect our commercial corridors with the broader Metro Detroit area.

Infrastructure & Environment

Protect our shared resources and invest in practical infrastructure improvements to ensure our district remains resilient and beautiful.

Specific Policy Plans
  • Upgrade Stormwater Infrastructure: Secure state investment in local water infrastructure and Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) to permanently solve basement and street flooding.
  • Guarantee Clean & Affordable Water: Accelerate the replacement of all lead service lines and ensure state oversight prevents the privatization of our municipal water systems.
  • Conserve Lake St. Clair & Great Lakes: Enforce strict regulations against corporate polluters and agricultural runoff to protect the water quality of Lake St. Clair.
  • Fund Our Community Commons: Secure state grants directly to local municipalities to upgrade and permanently protect our community parks from private development.
  • Fund Pragmatic Infrastructure: Prioritize immediate maintenance for local roads and invest in smart traffic mitigation to ensure a smooth commute for working families.
  • Mandate Infrastructure-Tied Development: Require that any new density is legally tied to concurrent, developer-funded infrastructure upgrades like traffic calming and buried power lines.
